INFORMATION FOR TEAMS REQUESTING TO JOIN S.A.S.L

NOTE:  THE NEXT SEASON STARTS EITHER JANUARY 10th OR 17th, 2010

S.A.S.L. typically plays two 10 game seasons with all games are played on Sundays. The SASL currently has thirty-six teams in three age brackets 21 & over, 40 & over and 50 & over. The winter/spring planning meetings are typically held during the first week of August & December, respectively.  The Team Manger will need to attend one of this meetings.  Please check the website at www.saslsoccer.org periodically for information.  The web sites also list schedules, field locations and tips for new managers.

Since the SASL is affiliated with the California Soccer Association North (CSAN) all teams are required to pay an Annual $80 Team registration fee and as a new team you must pay an additional $25 registration fee. The due dates will be posted on the website.  We collect the Annual Team registration fees as a means to confirm commitments from teams and then send a check to CSAN.  We use the Annual Team forms as an indicator of commitment to allow us to determine the required number of fields. The fee for one ten game season is currently $830 per team.  this pays for the referees, fields, equipment, and league operations.  The $830 is typically due two weeks before the start of the season. These fees are to be delivered to Jim Hagedorn, 4100 Los Coches Way, Sacramento CA 95864, with the check made out to the SASL.

In addition, there is a $21 per player registration/player pass form . Each player is required to have a valid registration pass. The pass is good for the soccer year which runs September 1 to August 31. If you join mid year you still have to pay $21. You need to mail the player registration forms along with $21/player directly to CSAN. (Send a single check, not the payment from each player.)  The CSAN address is on the player registration form.

Teams are required to provide their own numbered jersey's and have a back-up set in case of color conflict.  Numbered matching generic uniforms are perfectly acceptable. The SASL requires that players wear shin guards and slide tackling is only allowed in the 21&over bracket.

Teams can suit up 18 players on any give Sunday and you are allowed to have up to 25 players on your team's roster. Most of younger teams register 16 to 20 players, older teams register more.

If you are interested in joining, or have additional questions, please contact Gerhard or Richard (Will).
